Job Description

Rank open; Ph.D. in English Literature or a closely related field is required. The Department of English invites applicants for a faculty position in English literature, with preference for candidates specializing in British literature. The position requires teaching courses in British literature, as well as literature survey and writing courses. Preference will be given to candidates with specialization in early modern or eighteenth- and nineteenth-century British literature. The successful applicant will mentor and advise undergraduate students, develop scholarly projects in their area(s) of specialization, and fulfill ongoing committee and service assignments. Applicants should have experience teaching and working closely with students, along with an established and ongoing record of scholarly research and publication. Experience in departmental administration is preferred. Successful candidates will teach undergraduate classes in a multicultural setting, demonstrate a commitment to inclusion, and contribute to a collegial, supportive, and collaborative work environment.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in English Literature or a closely related field.
  • Ability to teach British literature, literature survey, and writing courses.
  • Experience teaching undergraduate students.
  • Established and ongoing record of scholarly research and publication.
  • Ability to mentor and advise students.
  • Ability to contribute to service and committee work.
