Scope and Purpose:
The Campus Services department at the American University of Kuwait (AUK) is seeking the position of Senior Facility Technician. The successful candidate will maintain and repair building systems, supervise junior technicians, and potentially coordinate larger facility projects. They are responsible for ensuring a safe, functional, and efficient environment within a facility
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and perform routine maintenance tasks, such as HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical, and general repairs.
- Inspect and troubleshoot equipment to identify issues and recommend solutions.
- Oversee contractors and vendors for larger repair and maintenance projects.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and inventory of supplies.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
Qualifications
Education:
- Certification or training in facility maintenance is a plus.
Candidate Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Facility Technician or similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of building systems, equipment, and maintenance procedures.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Skills/Abilities:
- Experience in maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in a commercial or institutional setting.
- Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and best practices for facility maintenance.
- Ability to perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure facility equipment is in optimal working condition.
- Strong problem-solving skills to quickly address and resolve issues that may arise in a facility.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with team members, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using various tools and equipment to maintain and repair facility systems.
- Prioritization and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team to achieve common goals in facility maintenance.
